I just want to put in writing, kids, that I heard the warnings and could do nothing, for
I am not truly represented in Congress.  Our nation has begun its decline, our children (those who survive the violence of abortion) are being taxed without representation in their future.  Our people deny our country’s judeao-christian  roots.  A man with little knowledge or understanding of the consequences of his actions is steering our great ship towards the rocks at high speed.  His electorate have ignored his ignorance in favor of his “clothes” -his outward appearance-  with the jubilant however ironic claim that race consciousness is dead.

Pray for President Obama, that God will give him the Wisdom for which he refuses to ask.

All earthly realms do perish.  Our end has begun.

IT is never advantageous to arouse vice among anyone, let alone the masses. Yet this administration is stoking envy among the middle classes in order to bolster support for Obama’s policies. The strategy is dishonest and maybe even dangerous.

Graphs in the Obama budget proposal reflect views and analysis of well known radical-left French economists who conclude that 70% of the wealth is unjustly held by a minuscule percentage of the people. (see Daniel Hettinger-Wall Street Journal- March 18-ish?) What the graphs do not illustrate is the subsequent and immediate transfer of that wealth to countless service people and artisans. I live in a neighborhood where some of the “excessively wealthy” reside and the streets are testament to this voluntary wealth transfer: they are lined with service vehicles of every kind imaginable almost every day of the week.   So, I wonder if the problem that the Obama Administration has with the wealthy is not that they hold the wealth but that they get to spend it where they choose—and the government has no power over it! The notoriously wealthy are stimulating the economy better than any peacetime government effort could. To summon up envy against them is to clog a machine that works satisfactorily while awakening the ugly side of us Regular Joes.

But rabble-rousing is also dangerous. The angry masses are difficult to control and have been known to get carried away–even turn on their leader–once their ire is raised. The French should remember this. The administration’s populist rhetoric is deceptive and dangerous. Good leaders should not have to invoke the Dark Side.

Kristi Burton  and 1300 volunteers got an initiative on the Colorado ballot that defines life as starting at conception.  Whether it loses this time or not, we must have a similar initiative on our ballot as well–starting NOW.  Go to http://vimeo.com/1155490 to see Coloradoforequalrights.com video and hear their story.  Depoliticize the Right-to-life cause that has shackled and gagged most of our cowardly politicians.  Let the people decide!!! The time is now for logic to prevail against a crime that is worse than the holocaust in Germany and slavery in America.  How can we live during these times and do nothing??

Once united, we Roman Catholics are now divided by political party platforms.  Why does one party have ownership of the pro “culture of life” cause and the other that of social justice?  Why are we forced to choose which cause is more urgent when both causes are important to us? And even more critically, how does social justice come to be at odds with the pro-life cause, when they should logically extend from the same truth-that we are all equal in the Heart of God?

Aahh, perhaps here is where the disconnect begins , and it is a big one: It centers around our belief in God and our faith. Where is God and do we need Him to achieve social justice?

For the culture-of-life crowd, the answer is an absolute “YES”.  These are your regular church-going catholics who occassionally bangle rosary beads to the wonderment of others not so inclined.  They believe in Christ, the Risen Lamb of God, and His Real Presence in the Eucharist.  They believe in the existence of evil-yes, the devil- on this earth, and its seductive and deceptive power over fallen man.  They look forward to the Second Coming of Christ to when humanity will be made whole again and return to Heaven from its exile on Earth.  They have little faith in the concept of man making a better world for himself.  Still, out of a passionate personal love and fear for Christ, they seek the wellbeing of all of His precious creatures—-ideally.  But they are still fallen man.

For those that define their cause in terms of social justice, the answer is more complex.   There is definitely a God who in the Second Person of Jesus taught us how to love our neighbor. This is the example with which they model the ideal political structure where the poor are exalted and the mighty are thrown down. They have a passionate desire to see no more suffering and they look to civil institutions, especially government, to slowly but surely bring justice.  Then will they be able to victoriously face their Redeemer and show Him their fruits. He has shown man the path to justice, man must be responsible and follow it.

So, if our life on earth was like learning to ride a bike, the culture-of-lifers believe that Christ is on their shoulder to provide balance, direction and to point out immediate unseen dangers on the path. While the social justicians believe that, having watched Him ride, they can now try it on their own.  Both believe they will reach the destination.

But there is a problem.

Christ is the Word of God and He speaks words of Love.  Love before faith, hope, justice. knowledge, courage, humility, because Love fuels it all. And this love is not just a brotherly love that puts one in mind of warm hearths, Christmas hymns and rice bowls overflowing.  This love is the intense, blood throbbing, sweaty, breathtaking love of a lover–only multiplied exponentially!!!  There is no warm fuzzy here.

With this sort of love there is no compromise. An injustice burns the heart of the Lover.  A grave injustice ravages His Heart.  There can be no rest for lovers of Christ while evils are perpetrated before us, before Him.  Yet because true believers adore Him as King of  Kings and the Most High, they realize  that He is allowing the evil to exist.  He is not stopping it.  He knows that the graver issue is not the suffering and death of the body (which is so difficult to witness), but the withering of the soul (which must be hideous to behold).  Often, it is through those who suffer, that the souls of sinners are reinvigorated, are saved. These sinners are the very people who work for the weak and unfortunate, and who by their actions may never improve the plight of the poor,weak and, disadvantaged, but whose fruits are something they never expected: the delivery of their very own souls.

So to imagine that we can obliterate suffering on earth may be vainglorious and futile while to neglect those who suffer is dangerous for our souls.

Specifically, the attempt to obliterate suffering by promoting abortion, stem cell research and all research utilizing body parts acquired from murdered preborn babies is, following this logic, horrific and it mocks the Lord and His great mercy.  This hideous crime begs for the Wrath of Christ, having every evidence of being the work of the evil one who-as Christ warned-would crush our bones into dust if he could. Similarly euthanasia, also championed by some “social justicians” as a merciful act that ends suffering,  robs humanity of an opportunity to practice love, service and sacrifice in Christ’s name.

Why we believers are divided is directly related to the intimacy of our relationship with the Living God.  Those who long for, sense and devoutly receive often the Real Presence of Christ  realize that there is no looking Him in the face while justifiying this hideous extermination of the new generations. How could we explain to Him  that (as the Obama platform indicates) we know abortion isn’t right but it is a necessary evil while we have unwanted pregnancies in our society.  ”Who calls them unwanted?” He might say, “Not I.”

Last evening’s debate between Governor Palin and Senator Biden was painful to watch.

  Joe Biden was brimming with facts burnt into his head from having actually lived through them himself (though, I guess he didn’t always get the facts straight).  He has been in the Senate forever!!!  How can he talk about change???

Sarah Palin however is tutored to memorize scores of facts that are meaningless to most of the American public just so that she can shoot them off with minimal pause. This keeps the media wolves, famished for some Palin flesh, temporarily at bay.

But really the facts don’t impress us; they make us sleepy as evidenced by the restlessness of the audience whenever Biden spoke.

Don’t drop names, drop the facade. Sarah, keep it plain and tall. No one is qualified to be the President of the United States until they’ve done it for a few years and that’s just when no one wants them in office anymore. 

In sum then, the only qualified candidates for the office of the Presidency are undesirable. So why do we bother about the qualifications?

What our high offices need is what all of our offices need: honorable, humble lady and gentlemen servants.

The US Congress will most likely pass the 700 billion dollar bailout today or tomorrow and the skittish stock market is supposed to chill out in turn.  But I think it’s a mistake.

It’s a mistake to continue to fix now and pay later. Our culture revolves around this mantra: “buy now, pay later”. We purchase cars, homes, flat screen tv’s, botoxed brows, and augmented breasts with that mindset. We even make like promises to The Almighty.

It seems that with the US banking system anyway, ”later” is now.

But the government “must do something now” or “heaven help us all” say those in the know. So if the government clods its clumsy paws into the mess, then the behavior of greedy Wall Street, corrupt Fannie Mae (and her friends in Congress), and foolish homebuyers will not be corrected. We taxpayers will make money on the deal? Not if there’s a government committee working on it. Picture for a moment the last scene of “Raiders of the Lost Ark” where the “Ark” is filed away in some government warehouse.

Today, it costs $700 billion to prevent a run on the banks, loosen credit and protect “Mainstreet”.  What will it cost tomorrow when the market gets jittery again? When another insurance company fails? Where will it end?

We need Jimmy Stewart from “It’s A Wonderful Life” to calm us regular folk.  Then we’ll promise not to make a run on the banks, if they just give us the credit we really need. Let the “toxic debt” holders work things out the long way.

From now on may our common sense speak louder than our mortgage brokers, real estate agents, and our egos.

 A nimble hacker finds his/her way into the personal email of the “oh-she-just-can’t-be-that-squeaky-clean” Sarah Palin. Aside from unremarkable correspondence there is nada.  Ironic, isn’t it, that the only dirt is now on those who chose to illegally obtain and publish these emails.
